Default No Fibre Optic MOST but CAN and GVIF.

Attached is a 15 page pdf that provides some info on the Nav system. My read of it is as you surmised, that there is no MOST fibre optic going from the display unit to the MMM / Navigation Computer under the seat but there is CAN and GVIF.

And yes, it is more than a DVD ROM player; I would call it an Inertial Navigation unit as it contains G sensors within as well as the GPS receiver.

My view is that figuring out how this stuff works is not easy; modifying it even more difficult.

I have that file, I have the RAVE files. I just have not gone through it yet since I really dont have any need to given how simple this conversion is. The LR4 display does not use CAN or GVIF connections like the LR3 display does, its much more independent. At least the 2010/11 version. Man designed it, man can figure it out. I have worked on some pretty complex things before including custom programing of engine ECUs. So while this is all new to me its also fun to poke around. Really it comes down to the MOST networks that makes projects like this possible. The LR4 and LR4 dont even use the same CAN bus setup, so without MOST there is no way swapping bluetooth modules or nav displays would ever work in the first place. I will get a thread started soon that can dive into some of the highlights.

Default busses are rocket science

I would appreciate that. This bus stuff is rocket science to me, but I am keen to learn as much as I can. It seems the software stuff is now more of a problem than the mechanical so to keep a vehicle going, one must have at least some knowledge of busses and what they do.

Today I put new wipers on, did an oil change, and installed a new steering shaft on the white 07. Amazing how major the improvement is with that new shaft

Remounted my UHF radio's remote head after the double sided tape gave up the ghost, found a product could uglu which is awesome. Made a shroud to mount a 2nd screen that fits into the factory satnav position.

Default Replacing timing chains on the 4.0

I bought a ‘06 LR3 with a broken timing chain. Part of the guide was through the valve cover! Surprisingly after disassembly, the left hand head looks OK. I’ll go ahead and rebuild both heads and install a new timing chain kit front and back. I’ll see what’s in the oil pan and all the other damage once I get the front cover off. I just put it on the engine stand this evening. I work slow so it will take a few weeks, or
