New caliper and rotor. Came back from 10 days out of town and it was screeching like a banshee when I drove it and clearly had a brake still on.
Was sick thinking it was the parking brake actuator, but lucked out and was a stuck front caliper. Trashed the rotor but not about to complain given the alternative
^ Thats my project for Friday. My driver rear caliper is causing pad drag and I don't know why but it started after some off-roading so it could be debris related. Pads and rotors are all new so it sucks that I have to probably replace those on that wheel. For now I just make short trips as there is no noise, just heat.
I had been draggin my feet to get the windshield cowl changed out for the past year. Even went as far as to put black duck tape on the edge to seal it. Took 10 minutes to drop it in. Looks so much better and I’m surprised at how flush the new cowl sits against the windshield.
Nice I have to do that on my new to me LR3. Really looks good
I know it looks like I have been doing nothing on the LR3 lately but I haven't been double posting it with the build thread. So I have actually been keeping busy after work.
What do you use to clean your engine compartment? That looks great!
The Cowl drops in pretty easily....but I have had a heck of a time with the one I put in on my '06. After a month, it started warping, even with a bead of RVT under it.
A few things that were likely the culprit:
1. It stays outside. The sun really affects it.
2. My A-Pillar trim was no good. Lowest fastener was broke off. I should have just caved in and bought a new one. The result was that it didn't put pressure down onto the cowl. I've since purchased a new one but the damage has been done. The cowl's resting position is warped. I re-applied RVT the other day and put weight on it for 24 hours. It looked good but now I can see it coming up again. Maye I'll try one more time.
I ceramic coated the entire engine bay with this stuff I use it on my car as well. It’s pricey but it’s amazing. Dirt and grime don’t stick to your car. Also when I changed out the cowl. I replaced all the A pillar clips as well with new ones. It might not seem like much but it played a huge role in creating a firm hold with the cowl. I noticed my old A pillar clips were old and dry rotted and loose. I swapped the clips in both
sides as well. https://www.autogeek.net/sonax-cc36-...c-coating.html
