Ah yes, I remember doing the pump bracket in my LR3. It's actually the first thing I did. I took the whole thing off and let it soak in some Evaporust for a whole day to take off most of the rust, then I took a wire-wheel to it to take off the more caked spots. Then some primer and paint and it looks great to this day.

Left about 9:45a from Phoenix Sunday morning, trailer in tow, and drove to Edmund, OK to pick up minnie-me, and got back about same time this morning. Beat - but glad its over with. LR3 did great, except for gas - and some engine light on and off (Cat error) Could deff have had it shipped for equal cost. Oops!

I use BOESHIELD on all the steel underneath. Looks like it works well, to me, but I don't live in the rustbelt and we really don't even use salt on the roads up here; usually sand.

I replaced a snapped off front caliper bolt wife was complaining of an intermittent dragging noise. It was apparently the caliper rubbing as it moved around

Did that as well. Had a bit of POR15 left over from another project. Looks so much better painted and clean.

I wouldn't even of bothered to clean it up, except everything else under the hood was immaculate, and the pump bracket was the only thing that was rusted.

I've only had my LR3 for about 2 weeks, but it's been a busy 2 weeks. So far I've taken it to the shop to have the transmission fluid and filter changed, and changed the engine oil and filter, power steering fluid, and transfer case fluid myself. Now I'm waiting on a backordered rear diff drain plug to start the diffs. Today I torqued down two oil pan bolts where there was a tiny drop of oil appearing after each time I drive. Fingers crossed this keeps it sealed. The oily bolt was the culprit. It was actually loose, I could almost have taken it out by hand. Yikes.
