What year are the stocks off of? Is it a direct replacement to the 2006?

Took it past 194K miles. Still runs and drives smooth and strong. There are some durable beasties.

I am not sure of the years, but make sure they look just like mine. The date range might be 2010-2013 and they can come from an LR4 or likely a Sport too. There are basically two versions but only one is compatible. The version that is NOT has fog light controls on the stalk also (pic below). You do not want those sets and apparently they are not a direct fit.

Started on Saturday to replace the high pressure fuel that is not so conveniently located at the rear of the engine between the cylinder banks and pretty much right under the bottom of the windscreen, only 4 bolts and some fuel lines holding the pump in but the amount of crap you need to remove to get it is a pita.
Back story, i had been getting the occasional limp episode mainly when towing when under light load and i needed to accelerate or just driving on some long uphill sections . Got to the point where every day it would happen and sometimes 2 or 3 times which is not great on the freeway and you gun it to merge with traffic at 100kph and you lose all power.
Got a weeks break pre - Christmas so though i may as well do it now while i have the chance and before we go on any road trips.
In the photo below you can just see the hard metal fuel lines on the pump behind that plastic crankcase breather that needs to come out before you can get to the pump, probably the worst time consuming job i've ever done on this car.
Thing weighs about 5kg which feels heavier when you are lying across the engine arms outstretched trying to wrestle it out between the wiring and fuel/coolant lines.

Drove mine to work through the aftermath of the "bomb cylone" the newsies were all atwitter about and was reminded of just how excellent a winter vehicle the LR3 is.
Prpbably the best winter vehicle ever, better than the late great Bronco, even better than the Mercedes ML320 and the Volvo V50 we've hadin the past. Sticks to tjhe road like a velcro cat and busted through the drifts as if they weren't even there. They really are darn good.

Default Goes forward better than it stops.

Well, I am not certain that I could claim my LR3 is the worlds best winter machine but 485,000 km (300,000 miles) later, I must say I never really got stuck in the snow.
I would also say that the 4x4 system certainly makes it go forward, but stopping, well mass is what decides, not design. I run the narrow Bridgestone Weatherpeak 235 65R18 on 18" rims year around. That seems to give me satisfactory traction on ice as well as dry pavement but I think the air suspension, general steering geometry plus an effective low centre of gravity help out.

My wife only once got annoyed with me many years back (going to the grocery store) when the 3 kind of bogged down in a drift but when I shifted to low range, it just drove out. She saw me fooling with some centre switches and I wisely said nothing, and she never commented ever again. Also I made the upper glove box hers, and that that was one of my better moves.
The bit of snow in the jpg below is from Fernie British Columbia one winter day. The main street photo is also Fernie - no parking meters yet.

Not today but last week - swapped out a spark plug and ignition coil on my '05 (194k miles). In the middle of a holiday road trip far from home and unexpectedly started getting a small vibration interrupting the normally smooth idle. No codes or issues driving. Next day vibration got worse, CEL came on, and codes showed for misfire in cylinder 8. Annoying as I had planned new plugs and coils for 200k, even purchased the parts, but was far from home. Luckily AutoZone had an NGK plug and compatible ignition coil (Duralast...have Delphi on hand now) and I had the tools to change it out. Cleared up and running smooth again. Left the Duralast in for the past 400mi and it has been fine. While I was in there, was checking other plugs/coils and noted #7 spark plug was loose for whatever reason, too.

More info about this here, the stalks fit all years L319 (from 2005-2016) so you could put old ones on a new truck if you wanted!

Anyone converted to LED headlamps? Pros and Cons? Will there be any faults over time? Since I rarely use the hi-beams, so even if they might be blinding, was thinking they might be the way to go, because they are easily turned off and might help a lot in the mountains of Canada in the deep dark cold nights of winter. Maybe hi-beam LEDs only is better than lo-beam LEDs which might blind oncoming traffic? I think there might be some laws around that in certain parts of the world but not around here afaik.
