Have to give you points for trying to be avant- grade on the color, but black is better. An thin orange frame around each switch hole would stand out just enough and still be classy, IMO.

Changed a front hub today and what a job. Everything was seized and needed a lot of heat. I found the wheel speed sensor was also stuck fast. I ended up having to heat the whole section and then only when I used a big sledge hammer did I manage to get it to budge. As careful as I was I ended up breaking the speed sensor.

Once everything was back together and I fired up the engine I was greeted with a dash board of warnings and lights, which I put down to the damaged sensor. I'll see what the GAP tool comes up with tomorrow and failing that it will be a new sensor that I need to now order which I hope will clear the faults.

OH and BTW the hub was replaced as the bearing was making a lot of noise - I now have a nice quiet front hub.

Bit if a gripe now

I just checked Atlantic British and I'm sorry to say that yet again their shipping prices are laughable - for a small wire harness, as that's effectively what the replacement is, that can fit into a small bubble wrap envelope they want $43-$71 shipping for a part they sell for $40! This is the primary reason I never use them and its been the same for any part I have looked at ordering. The likes of Amazon are always a far better option in terms of choice and delivery time and costs and to be honest even the local Stealership works out less than the 'minimum' total I would have to pay to Atlantic British and that's before I even add on any import tax.

I agree that BA is not shipping friendly to Canada.

Part from LR in Halifax NS is $58. For once the dealer is the most cost effective option.

New sensor arrived today and once installed and codes cleared they did not come back. This little sensor not working resulted in

Parking brake not working
Transmission over temp
HDC off line
Special modes off line
EAS forced to access mode
Directional Headlights warning light
Engine warning light
Brake warning lights
General warning light
Vertical lean limit warning light
Plus a whole bunch of codes I did not bother to read

I have no idea which monkey actually designed the electrical system, but I seems like they tried to run as many things on as few data lines as possible so that one simple sensor failure effectively shuts down or limits many of the main systems. Glad I had the GAP tool as at least I could set the access height to a higher setting to prevent riding on the bump stops.

Replaced all of the spark plugs and two failed coils. After misfiring for a month, they finally failed enough for the computer to catch which ones. Amazingly easy for plugs in aluminum heads. Complete job in under an hour and no ugga-duggas were expended.

Yesterday I had the exhaust resonator downstream from the muffler removed and replaced with straight pipe. It sounds great! Also got the front windows tinted and headlight lenses buffed.

Yesterday I did the Sunroof Drain Repair for both Driver and Passenger side. Removing CJB was easy, but putting the connectors back is another story especially the rear connector. With patience I was able to find a sweet spot.

Sunroof Drain Repair. Both Passenger and Driver. Passenger side took longer with the famous CJB removal. Rear connectors was PITA but with patience was able to find a sweet spot to put the connnectors back in place.

The plan today was to finally install my winch and refinish my rims so they are all black.

Pulled the left front wheel so I could get it painted and drying while I pulled the bumper and I found the brake pads were goners. So the plan shifted quickly...

So I put the wheel back on and took a quick trip to the store for the brake pads. Got those picked up and got to work.

In the nick of time it would seem.

As I was cranking the piston back in my C clamp snapped in half.

Luckily my neighbor had one I could borrow. So I got back on track. Got the brakes done, wheels painted and finished installing the new letters on the hood.

Did some testing on the used winch I picked up but it looks like I will have to take it apart and see what it needs as it seems to be froze up.

Good to see my LR3 after a couple weeks away for duty, seems like she was getting even for leaving her sit
