I love simple maintenance stuff it’s quite enjoyable!

 

I wish the rears were complete assemblies like the front. Unfortunately I it's a very different setup in the back.

Got the oil leak fixed on the 07. Checked the front hubs was happy to find they are good. Did a front diff service and oil change. Found a bit of slop in the front driveshaft so they may need to be addressed.

Then I started clearing space for the 33" Atturo Trail Blade MT. I pulled the fender liners loose and rolled.the body seem over.with my trusty 3 lb finishing hammer.










On the front I removed the frame horns and had to call it a day for Mother's Day dinner.

What is the point of those metal horns?

 

Ok, so after watching too many dash cam videos on that tube thing on the internet, I decided to take the plunge and put on in the Rover.

I will not bore you with why I selected the Blackvue 750 2CH, Camera selection is a choice with too many personal variables to say which one is “best” for you. (I may tell you my thought process on why I chose the one I did if you ask.)

The unit came with a front and rear camera. I only need to run 12 volts to the front camera and a small cable to rear one.

Not knowing if the cable would be long enough I started by stretching the cable the length of the car and found I had more than enough, so the install began. I found the place to mount the cameras and proceeded to tie them together.



Pulled the rubber tube lose on the left side. (right side has the washer fluid hose and not enough room to get the cable through)





I pushed a screw driver through first to help align the tube in a straight position. I then used a thin wire taped to the cable and pushed it through the tube. This method assures no compromise of the weather seal around the tailgate.

Pulled down the door(body) seal for both front and rear doors to push the cable up into the headliner.



Mounted right under the mirror making sure the lens was centered as best I could get it.

Best of all I cannot see it while driving

I have have not driven with this yet, but my hopes are that it will just "be there" and not require anything from me, and I hope I never have to download any video for the insurance company.

Next project: all new control arms front and rear top and bottom. Oh, and sway bar links and bushing just because I am there. (this will be my second time I have done this to an LR3 so I hope to get it right this time around)

Picked up the hubs from the machine shop and got the right rear installed and back together.

 

Sweet! What was the cost for the hub assembly rebuild? Thinking about replacing one of my rear hub assemblies because my wheel back there seems to have a slight lean towards the inside of the wheel well and I’m thinking it may be the hub
