Default Wobble and Clunk/Knock

2006 LR3 SE- 150,000 miles.

Before taking on a trip to Philadelphia from Boston, I had 4 new tires and a balance done. On my way back, around New York City, the car started to wobble with almost every tire rotation. At first I thought it was alignment or a warped rim...but I noticed it if I held the steering wheel in certain directions the wobbling and clunking/kocking would stop.

I have a local shop who thought it was the tie-rods, so I had them change the inner and outer, still same issue. I'm thinking next replacement CV joint?

Any tips would be helpful.

Thanks

I good mechanic shouldn't "think" it's the tie-rods, there are tests to do to see or feel the play in the tie rods. My suggestion would be to find a better shop with mechs that can properly diagnose steering/suspension issues.
