Default steering wheel wobble wobble…2000 Disco

I have a 2000 discovery II. Been doing a lot of renovations. So I just replaced the factory wheels with steelies from Rovers North,
Also replaced the tires 265/75/16. In the last year I put a 2 inch lift kit
from Terra Firma as well.

Now, After recently getting the tires and wheels I noticed a wobble of the steering wheel around 40 miles an hour to 55 or so. Not uncontrollable but enough to cause a little worry. I took the truck to a local dealer for an
alignment and balance. Drove fine last night and the wobble has started again…..Any suggestions??

On a side note….I noticed a wobble in the steering wheel and had a tie Rod end replaced a year ago. I noticed it was around 55 miles an hour and really scary to drive at the time…The wobble was much much worse than it is is now. I also recently had a tie rod replaced…..

How's your steering box? Anything leaking out of it? I think that's a common problem with these trucks. I'd also look at the steering damper and the pitman arm.

I had a bad wobble in my truck when I bought it, took it in to my tire guy and he said I had no wheel balanced. One was out 7 1/2 oz! Once he did that, my shake went away. Maybe that's your problem as well.

To the OP,

Just to clarify, did the same wobble exist before you switched to the new steelies? Or is it a different kind of wobble?

No the wobble started after the wheels were installed. Then I took it in for a
balance and alignment. It seemed ok then within a day it went back to a slight
wobble. Not a death wobble but enough where there is a little play in the wheel and I feel a little uncomfortable. It was definitely not there prior. I don't
know if a weight was thrown off after I was driving or not.

Default wobble continues

Well…I took it into another shop a local chain. They said there was nothing wrong with Alignment, Balance, Ball Joints, or Tie Rods/Ends.

"It's because you have a lift on your truck".
I told them I didn't have the wobble until after the new wheels were installed.
So any other ideas or it is just the result of a lift and larger wheels? 265/75/16 sized wheels with steelies from Rovers North.

On a good note, I got a new Thermostat from BPUH and it has dropped my running temps by 15 degrees! Now in the 180s/low 90s.!
