There's little info available ANYWHERE regarding the replacement of the front TXV with most posts on forums indicating it's buried inside the dash and removal of the entire front half of the truck's interior's required for the service. In fact the main dealer insisted this was necessary as well and 12 hours labour.
Well I decided to shove my head under the driver's side portion of the dash and I in fact found the valve block in plain site on the side of the evaporator case. Took about 30 minutes to remove and fit a new one including replacing the O-rings.
The valve had been previously replaced by the main dealer exactly a year before (along with evaporator, condenser, compressor, etc). But yes, my replacement of the valve did resolve the problem, I believe the previous replacement must've become stuck closed and refrigerant was not flowing.
It's on the left side of the evaporator housing just to the right of the pedals.
