Metals seem to be steady, no sign of unburnt fuel or coolant and oil seems to be in good shape. Plan to change my oil at 12k and retest. I appreciated the bit of good humor in the comments from the tech.

what oil are you using?

Here's an updated listing of oil analysis from my 2010 LR4, the most recent one with the high "fuel" content is probably due to the BG EPR Flush that I did when changed the oil. No issues with timing chains or any funny engine noises, they have not been changed to my knowledge. I've had this Rover since 91K and its got 134K on her as of 11/9/2022

I wanted to "Clean the Slate" as much as I could.
I also switched to Castrol Edge 5w40 as I live in SW Florida and it is always Hot here. Very few Cold mornings, 1-3 maybe per year. Atlantic British shows a 5w40 Castrol Edge Pro on their website recommended for Range Rovers in Warm Climates so I figured it would be good for me as well.
My initial impressions are Wow, what a difference in quieting the motor down. I always thought the engine was a little loud and couldn't tell if it were the chains or lifters or what but this has helped quite abit!
It's only been 24 hours so far but after the initial start up the engine sounds a lot quieter. You could just hear the engine quieting down as the new oil got flowing through out it, had one lifter still ticking and a little throttle blip and it went away. Will be interesting to see how she runs today as I have lots of running around to do.
Will keep you updated if anything would happen but this definitely helped quite a bit.
Curious how the oil ended up working out? I'm in AZ and about to do an oil change, did you stick with 40w Oil?

Never a 40 weight in these engines! LR spec is clear. Its in your owners manual. Why you would deviate from that is beyond me.
Better yet walk into an LR shop and ask what they use. Given the MY of your vehicle, the owners manual may not include the update.

Hi,

The Rover recommended weight is 0W-20 Castrol Edge Professional for the LR4 (now that Castrol has discontinued the 5W-20.)

We did have 5W-40 Castrol Edge Professional up until a year or so ago, but it was NOT speced for the LR4... It was for early Range Rover Full Size L322 4.4L V8 with the BMW engines (2003 -2005.) I believe Castrol discontinued that as well.

Cheers,
