My 2004's roof needs repainting. Instead of painting it blue like the body, I'm thinking of doing it Chawton white. Chawton because not only would it look different, but the blue likely wouldn't match the rest of the body to all blend in (I'm thinking). Here's a photo of mine and another D2 with the Chawton.

Thoughts?

 

 

I like the concept. Silver might look nice as well, maybe a little too formal though.

Edit: It will be tough to tell the difference of a small variance in shade being that the roof is so high on these vehicles so most people won't really see it. Plus the light will reflect differently off a perpendicular panel making it more difficult to see a difference, and there won't be a side by side comparison like there would be if you had a fender painted but not the door next to it.

 

I just painted the sun-faded roof of my epsom green Disco 2 with a gallon of sand-colored Durabak bedliner. After masking everything off, I used the paint roller that the company supplies with the paint to apply it. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. The stuff is indestructible. The sand-color looks great with my green exterior and beige interior, and I think it would look really classy on your blue Disco too. Durabak comes in a range of colors too, if you don't like the sand color.

 

I've been thinking about this option a lot. It's a no-brainer if you like the look; cooler temps inside, and easy to do. Very utilitarian and fitting for the Defender, the old Land Cruisers, FJ's or a Suzuki Samurai.
IMHO tho, the Discovery is a step above those trucks, in terms of style, and they seem to look more dignified with the original matching roof. Not trying to put down those who've done it, like I said; it makes sense. I'm just a fan of the Discovery's styling and like it the way it was originally sold..

 

I'd be afraid of the bedliner surface being too rough to make a good seal around the sunroof. Does it work OK for you?

 

Or you could do burgundy top on a black truck
