According to some of the websites I've seen, the diesel reset interval is ~8300 miles for oil. I have reset it several times and never seen it above that. When I was at the dealer last, they reset it and it was 8300. I stated I had been seeing differing opinions, and they confirmed for diesels, it's 8300 miles.

My Rover mechanic of 25 years says every 8000 miles, regardless of what that crazy computer says.

That's what I am going with, cheap insurance.

Sounds like it didn't reset. What's the 'door method'? Pretty easy to reset manually without OBD scanner

open hood press gas and brake until oil resetting comes on and until it says oil reset. I can try it again see if it changes. But prior to that it was 0 miles and said service required.

Sounds like the reset worked. It seems that diesel has a much shorter service interval. My petrol engine comes at 16,000 miles and ticks right down to zero.

I'm told that it's time and usage. If low miles then 1 year from when the car was put in services. At my current run rate I have another 3k miles (currently at 8400) or January.
