Advice needed on possible 2020 Disco 5 purchase...
#12
Purchased a 2019 HSE a year ago and have 22K with no major issues at all. Have owned a GL450, LX460/470, XC90, and test drove Q7 and X7. The ride height and visibility is amazing, no other car in its class comes even close, major buying decision for me. Reliability has been great, no significant issues and dealer has been very professional. I did however change the tires to Michelins, much quieter.
I'd certainly recommend at least the HSE, and include the 7 Seat Pack (Air suspension for sure), Driver Assist Pack (Adaptive Cruise, worth every penny, and Surround Camera), Luxury Climate Comfort, and Remote Intelligent Seat Fold.
Will definitely purchase again, so looking forward to the 2022 refresh, the GLS450 would probably my second choice.

I can't speak for the D5 but we absolutely love our 2020 Discovery Sport. While shopping and comparing vehicle brands I stopped every Land Rover or Range Rover driver I could and asked whether they had any issues and would they buy again. Every single one of them, maybe 20 in total, said they loved the vehicle and would buy it again.

We bought a 2020 last december, and so far, not a problem with it at all. We love it, so comfy, so smooth to drive. Like you we looked at a few other cars; Audi, Volvo and Lexus. The Lexus was too small (there's five of us), the Audi was way too small, the Volvo was lovely but like you say, rather spartan. We settled on the Disco and are trusting that most of the issues that were around before, have been solved. We havent seen anything nasty yet so fingers crossed all will be good. (We came from a GMC that like the previous four before it, was constantly needing some sort of repair)

2-1/2 years and 63k miles. No real issues - couple minor items. We have a dealer that treats us right and always takes care of us.
Definitely not "copious" amounts of issues. We would absolutely buy another one. Usually only keep them for approx 2 years. Keep looking at going back to an F-Pace or the new Defender but honestly, the D5 checks all my boxes. We have a couple of Wranglers for fun cars and this is a travel cruiser.

On my 2nd D5. Totaled the first one and my lack of serious injury in that crash convinced me of their safety. T-boned at probably 40 to 45 MPH. I'm just over a year into my 2ns one and the pro's are:
- Its been very reliable and virtually trouble free
- Decent on Gas at an average of around 18 mpg
- Comfortable to drive
- Tows well
- Lots of utility as its really quite large inside but its exterior footprint allows me to easily get in the garage and parking spaces
- Very Safe
- feature packed and incredible off-road capability
- Expensive to service
- Very poor resale. I paid around 60K before sales tax on my 2019 and true car is valuing it at between 29k-33K today with 20,000 miles.

Thanks for all the responses. We ended up buying a Discovery Landmark Edition a month ago. Namib Orange with Black roof/contrast package. 4-zone climate, 7 seat pack, Air suspension, Heated rear seats (which was a must per our daughters) Driver Assist pack, etc... So far, so good. We ended up liking the drive height, interior and overall size over the XC90 and a few other vehicles.

My wife has always wanted an orange vehicle, she always loved the orange Hummer H2 when the used to make those. Side perk is now our combined vehicle colors match our collegiate school colors... Our local dealer didn’t have it in stock, but the next closest dealer (100miles away) had one in stock with pretty much all the options we needed. Lucked out with that.
