Custom order to the US
Hi, new to this forum, great to be part of it.
I test drive the Disco 5 yesterday and I absolutely love it. Fits perfectly my family needs + trailer tow + offroad need.
I am very specific with the options I want so the dealer will try but probably fail to find one that fits my build completely so ordering is a realistic option. He told me that custom order would take 5-6 months which sounds a lot to me. I have previously custom ordered BMWs and a Porsche, it was never more than 10-12 weeks once you have the allocation. So I wanted to hear the experience of other members who custom ordered their Discovery. How much did you have to wait?
Thanks!

By the way, where are you based? If you call around other local dealers they may have ordered vehicles which haven't arrived yet (so won't be searchable yet) but they will know what's due. We nearly found something that fit our needs that was due in from another dealer in 3-4 weeks time. But in the end decided to go with custom order

I finalized my build on 2/12/18 and took delivery on 4/12/18. However I reached a handshake deal on 1/30/18 . I was going to get a diesel and they weren't approved yet. So we waiting for that, then I decided I didn;t want to wait anymore and went for a gas engine. They gave me the next build allocation they had so that sped things up.
I test drove one of the first 2018's on 1/30/18, earlier that month when visiting some other dealers, there were none in stock yet. So they should be producing 2018's for quite a while. It is kind of nice that the model year actually coincides with the calendar year!
