OK, got the actual printouts today. Though they did not even have one for the P2002 that came back while they were driving it over to exchange with Terri last Thurs, they just did a DPF clean and reset codes only for that. Somehow I suspect it will be back . . . but less worried about this one.

They changed the battery again and its ground LUG this time. Unlike what I was told on the phone, there was nothing about anything done up front. With already doing a terminal change on the battery ground, adding a star washer, and a battery change earlier, 2 trips ago, I have little faith in this.

Per above, I want to start doing some just basic debugging myself. Lacking any schematic at all much less a good one, it will be hit and miss but I really do suspect this problem is in the ground loop, aluminum alloy unibody design, dissimilar metals going from electronics, motor, copper wires, varied terminals materials, to that aluminum chassis. Especially on the more high current stuff. I actually wonder if I simply ran a [like] 4AWG ground wire from the ground lug up front through the unibody back to the ground lug in back what that would do?

We are solar powered here so I have quite a bit of extra 4AWG for my [ever expanding] battery array. Just a thought . . . I wonder what adding a true "deep cycle" battery would do? I have a few extra of those too that would easily meet current requirements.

If this vehicle sucked, I'd either go straight to lemon law, or just limp by until our lease is up and toss them the keys. We BOTH really like this Discovery. I am absolutely convinced this problem is fixable.

 

Topix has wiring diagrams, although I suspect they are split all over the place, have you looked on there? £12 GBP for an hours access, not much more for a days access and you could have a good rummage around?

If I make no more posts, we are likely DOA up at 9000 ft about 4 miles south of San Isabel. Snowed a foot there the last 2 days but high 50s low 60s next few days. Should be perfect and with all the snow melt we might not have to be on 24x7 fire alert.

Well, we survived the trip to CO and back with the P2002 on almost the entire time. We got our LR back today from the dealer and there is another 250 miles on the clock but the P2002 is still there. There is also now a graphic that comes/goes showing the right side of the vehicle in RED. I'm guessing something related to Lane Keep or something?

I'm going to try to get to the dealer in the next few days to have another chat but I'm not very hopeful.
