Default Front CV Axle Replacement

Starting getting vibration in my Disco a few months ago and thought is was wheels out of balance. I've been to the tire shop a couple of times and they have been spot on and even rotated, yet the vibration was still there. Then last week I started getting a clicking sound when turning from the left front wheel area. I pulled the tire and my inside brake pad was almost down to the wear pad sensor. I ordered new front pads and the wear sensor and put them on. It didn't solve my issue and the clicking / clunking sound was still there.

I pulled the left front wheel again and upon further inspection I found grease around the inner CV boot and a little extra play in the axle compared to the passenger side. I believe this has been the source of the vibration all along. I've ordered new Trakmotive CV axles from RockAuto for both sides and getting ready to change them out this weekend. I have searched the forums and youtube to see if anyone has replaced theirs but couldn't find anything for my 2018.

I did find a good video of a LR3 getting front CV shafts replaced and the suspension looks very similar to the D5. Is there any pointers anyone could give to make this process go smooth?

I would think it would be very similar.

I did the passenger about a year ago because I tore the boot doing the control arms. I wouldn't do both axles because of a boot and failure on one side. I'd prefer to have the factory units where possible. Process would be the same as L405: range Rover linked below.

I also replaced the differential housing seal while I was at it. Just to keep new axle to new seal.

The guy in the link above was lucky that his axles slid out. Mine wouldn't budge no matter how hard I beat on it. I had to buy a puller from NAPA.

Thanks @RyanLR3 for that video and the pictures! I really like that idea of only pulling the lower control arm bolts and tie rod end to gain access. Good call on the seal, I completely spaced that off.
