Default 70 days

My 2018 HSE luxury has been at the dealer for 70 days now, still waiting for a new windshield, while I get to drive a Nissan loaner. I've only owned the car for 536 days, so it's been in the shop for this one issue more than 13% of the time I've owned it. I'm thinking about trading it for a 2020 Range Rover Sport HST, so I don't have to keep waiting... they already told me how much they'd give me if I trade my Discovery in for one (it was a good offer).

Do you mind informing how much did they offer you? Was it better than the KBB value or just about the same.

The offer was slightly below what kbb said the trade-in value should be, a bit above what edmunds said. (It is more than kbb's "instant offer", and within the range of what kbb said my trade-in value should be, but slightly lower than the actual number that kbb said my trade-in value should be.)

oh wow. I guess I got lucky when they ordered a windshield for mine. I bought my CPO 2017 Discovery this past November and noticed immediately there was a windshield leak. I'm so glad it rained the night after I bought it. The dealership kept the vehicle for about 5 day while a new one was ordered and replaced. They also pulled out the passenger side carpet and sent it out to be cleaned professionally and they updated the software for the Touch Pro system to the latest version before giving it back. I now have Apple Carplay.

Angry WINDSHIELD LEAKING too !! 2017 Discovery

Same here... really unhappy! Just noticed that my windshield was leaking - have no idea how long at this point because I have waterproof mats. So, the water pools/pooled underneath the mats. It was only when my daughter (now old enough to sit in front seat) asked why there was drips inside the cars, that I started become aware of the issue.

Trip to the dealership has taught me the following:
  • this is longstanding *known* issue. My model car was not included si I was not officially informed. Service has been seeing more and more outside of leaking windshields on models outside the original recall
  • the water drips behind the dashboard and pools on the floor
  • windshields cannot be standard but to maintain the warantee, must be pre-fractory. In our area/dealership, there are currently 80 cars waiting for the part.
  • dealership is expecting at least 2-3 weeks to "fix" because they need to take apart the entire dashboard, dry out the parts, look for corrosion and mold. The rugs need to be ripped out, dried and reinstalled.
  • I have an airbag light that turns on only on days <30 degrees F. Seems that this is related because the water is freezing on the sensor. Once the car warms up, the light turns off. Does not make me conformable to know that my passenger airbag sensor is affected by water
  • I get a high pitched noise when first starting the defrost.

This is exactly what they offered to do to a new disco we were considering buying. They had already put the request in to JLR for the warranty work before we bought. They didn’t divulge this to us until we started asking a number of questions. Went with a different stock vehicle that hopefully didn’t have the problem. So far, all dry.
