I'm in the process of trying to sort out my lighting situation and would love to see what others have done as well as intstall tips.
Currently thinking of having two driving lights by the grill. Mounting options are pricey though. Only seeing Lucky8's brackets for almost $200.
Considering ditch lights as well as lights on the FrontRunner rack.
One thing I'm curious about is if anyone has placed lights lower than the grill. Say in the the slots down low. I really think an amber fog light application would be appropriate here (I have the factory fogs, but they're not the same)
DieselRanger started the thread using Baja lights under the grill controlled by a wireless remote switch so no need to cut into the car’s wiring. I installed same and canted the lights slightly outward to throw light to the sides for narrow windy roads. They work fine and mount on a license plate mounting (if you have front plates).
I originally went with the Lucky8 grill mount for my lights but they would not work without cutting into the dynamic grill that I have. Decided to return it and just go with the A bar. Mounted some Baja Designs lp9 pros there. On my FR rack I was looking at the Baja Designs XL linkable lights but did not like that way it would mount so I just went with a Auxtel 43" light bar pro that mounts to the underside of the roof rack. As for a backup light I found a single row blacked out 1000w light bar that fit perfectly and is somewhat hidden. All this is controlled via a Auxtel control pod that has a ribbon cable on it mounted to the left side of the instrument cluster. The ribbon cable I was able to pass through the door jam and into the engine bay. The electric block there has 6 connections and all relays needed to control accessories. Perfect fit inside and looks stock.
Oh you know that has to be a stop since it is along the way when we were heading to the Hill Country Rally. Besides the Shipleys is right there as well and the kids love that.
