The Land Rover kind.. it does seem suspicious. Seems to me if they really thought it was owner induced damage they wouldn't cover anything.

Anyone that has this issue should file a complaint with the NHTSA if in the US. Until there are enough reports JLR won't have any incentive to make repairs for this knuckle defect.

Thank you all for the valuable feedback! I ended up calling my 3rd party warranty company and spoke to an adjustor who confirmed that the knuckle is not listed as an exclusion on my Platinum level warranty and didn't know why it would have been denied. I had my service advisor call them again and ultimately got approval for both the knuckle and the wheel bearing. I still don't know exactly why the warranty company adjustor initially denied the knuckle the first time my advisor called in! I can't imagine the dealership would have any incentive to try to intentionally get me to pay for part of the work since they get paid whether it's me or the warranty.
I think i only have a few months left of warranty... This would be a good time for my coolant crossover pipes to fail so i can get them covered with the updated part!! LOL Or maybe my original ones want to go another 100K miles!

Maybe the logic was the knuckle could wear early but a Crack must have been abuse? I'm sure these adjusters are evaluated on how much they save the company and count on people being happy they covered anything.

Well let's face it. How often do things crack like that. Pretty rare on a production vehicle with OEM parts. My guess is the adjuster assumed it was damage from abuse like hitting a curb, etc. Glad you are getting it fixed but I can almost guarantee the other side has the same issue. LR time did a video on this and they had to use crack detector spray to make the other side show up, but it did.

@Rover06 Selfishly, I'd hope you file a complaint with the NHTSA anyway. The aluminum pinch union is clearly a faulty design and a safety issue and JLR should be required to fix on their dime.

That's great you got yours repaired under the warranty though!
