Thanks for the guidance.
At this age, is still probable the crankshaft issue on the TD6?
Will be better a 2020 Si6?

I think it is still probable but I own a td6 and use different oil then recommended (C3 instead of C1 and soon switching to 5w40). I don't think it really happens with heavier oil but it does happen with less hths level oils. just my 2 cents

What the best oil for our td6? Any brand?
Last change (by non JLR dealer) was Liqui Moly.

I'm currently running Mobil1 ESP 5w-30. It meets JLR's spec.

But I too am going to switch to a 5w-40 C3 spec as recommended by LRTime. Castrol Magnitec or Motul 8100 X-CLEAN Gen2 5W-40

Most important thing #1. change between 5K-8K. #2 if computer tells you to change before 5K mark, do it, oil dilution will kill the rings quickly. ( soot and fuel mixed in the oil)

If I recall, that 5w-40 C3 spec oil was for Vera's non-DPF Discovery 3. Our TDV6 is spec'd for ACEA C1 low SAPS (Sulphated Ash, Phosphorus and Sulphur) oil. C1 is discontinued. C2 and C3 are mid-SAPS meaning they contain more additives that will cause ash buildup in the DPF. C4 is the replacement for C1 as far as I can find right now. It is low SAPS as was C1.

Following on the oil discussion... Let us know what you all find as I have also been running that Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a 5w40 C4 oil. However, the HTHS viscosity is higher in C4 than C1 so perhaps that makes up for it?

The SAPS on the motul 5w40 c3 is 0.7 % and the saps on the eco clean which is a c1 oil is 0.5 % which probably isn't a big difference but I'm also not a big oil guy. The HTHS level though is greatly improved and the viscosity which will protect bearings and such I think ill soon be switching from mobil 1 to the motul oil 5w40 C3

Wagon still in the dealer. The will clean the DPF, by removing it.
