Smoke from Exhaust

Hi everyone, brought our 2019 Discovery Diesel in for service and it was working just fine. The dealer did an inspection, topped up the coolant, changed the oil and found a gearbox fault which they fixed. My wife picked it up and drove 100 feet. It was driving very poorly and started smoking. The dealer towed it back and are now telling us there was bad gas (light diesel) in the car and that it may have damaged the engine so we should call our insurance company. Has anyone ever heard of this problem?

So it drove in ok but now it has bad fuel? Did the fuel change into something else while sitting at the dealer?
They messed something up...
