So I did a thing today.
So I'm doing my maintenance and everything is going well. Oil change is done and I wanted to replace the diesel filter. Go over everything and disconnect lines, get the clamp off the hooks and pull it out, unscrew the water sensor. It's a lot of things happening in a small space but I manage to get the old filter out with no issues. Loosen the clamp and replace the filter with the new one, again, no issues. Reach in and pull-up the sensor/drain tube assembly and I'm screwing it in until hand tight. Maybe I should give it a little more. The answer was a definite NO. Broke the plastic screw that covered the sensor wires. Mind you, I'm leaving on a road trip in the morning. It's still fairly early in the day so I call my local dealer and braced for the obnoxiously priced part. But time is not on my side here. Figure out the part with the parts guy and then he tells me the price. $160. Alright, obnoxious but it's not gonna kill me. Then the other shoe drops. He doesn't have any. Then another shoe drops, their sister store doesn't have any either. Then another shoe drops. It's back ordered nationwide. Oh crap. So I grab the broken part and examine it. It doesn't seem like it's weight bearing, or pressure bearing so I grabbed some plastic safe contact cleaner and some quality superglue and put it back together. Carefully reassembled it and gave it a go. Drove it around town today with no issues. Wish me luck!
