Just picked up my first Rover today.
I just got my first Land Rover today... a 2000 Discovery II. Got a hell of a deal. Seller was facing eviction and needed rent money. I'm excited for the offroad capabilities. I plan on adding a lift, front and rear offroad bumpers, a winch, a roof rack, etc... My wife is exited about the creature comforts and the cargo space.
I put her through her paces today... a 200 yard steep, sandy climb with a sharp turn near the top, followed by 500 yards of uneven, irregular, rutted, rocky horse trail, and I finished with a 50 yard, steep, sandy/rocky descent... Never shifted into low range, never shifted into a low gear, never activated any of the special features/bells and whistles... I'm gonna be happy with this rig.
How do I maximize her trail capabilities without upsetting the wife, who wants to use her for shopping at club stores? What's the best direction to go as far as mods and upgrades, while still keeping a rig that wouldn't look out of place at the grocery store or the mall?
