Default Making the plunge

Hi Folks.Needing a vehicle that can carry 6 comfortably whilst towing a 2-tonne boatpretty much limits one to the 4wd brigade. The Land Rover Discovery TD6SE is on my short list.

Generally I am pretty impressed, but am somewhatsurprised that they don't have rear airco as a standardfitment-unlikethe japanese manufacturers. Futhermore, it seems that getting one with the rear air option is almost impossible (I am told 3 - 9 month wait). This seems odd for a country like Australia.

Is it really necessary, or can the standard airco keep all six passengers comfortable all day when the temperature gets over the 40 deg C / 104 deg F? I'd certainly like to hear from owners in hot countries!

My other concern is a reputation for unreliability. Local media suggest that Land Rover have corected the sins of the past, but does experience support this?

I'd certainly like to hear from owners before making the plunge.

Cheers,
Scott (Ghoti)

Oh Well. . . Just picked up my Disco 3 TD6 HSE, Java Black with Alpaca interior. Looking forward to lots of fun. The local dealers have a 4wd training day on April 15, so I'll have to talk the missus round to putting the new car through its paces
