Welcome. D2 units have two common problems that can trip up new owners. First is the oem front drive shaft, with sealed grease fitting on one end, they cook out by heat from catalytic converters, and fail, smacking a hole in the case of the transmission. $100 rebuild in advance article in our tech area, or replace with after market. Heat gauge will point at 50% from about 130 - 240F. A scanner or Ultra Gauge gives a much better idea of coolant temp. A 180F soft spring thermostat is available and a good upgrade.
