Default Old member introduction.

Greetings,

Been a member for years and just been a lurker in the forms for various fixes for the Disco II. The members and information on this form are both excellent. I'm a 38 year old male living in Bismarck, ND. I fly my Mooney M20F for fun and trips with the family. Getting ready to repair the head gaskets this month and will probably need some help and guidance. Thanks in advance.

ArmyRover,

I like the handle and disco image. I trained with the Scottish Army in 2003, Scottish Army Unit came to the states and we went to Inverness, Scottland. We received a proper LR introduction and then we took about six of the Series III's on a castle tour and ended up at Fort George. This trip started my adoration towards Rovers.

The Deputy,

Thanks and I had it since 2006 when back from an OIF deployment and it had 6,000 miles on it but it had a salvage title form a rejected repair. It been stored the last two years and driven rarely because of the HG and coolant loss. Looking to get it sorted out this month and back on the road.

Thanks the picture was taken at the Solaros Christmas camping trip on a small island in Lake Lanier. We crossed over from the mainland on a sand bar. I really like my D3.

ArmyRover,

I checked out the thread you linked to and that trip looked like a lot of fun. These machines make outdoor adventures that much better.

I completed the head gasket job! New HG, oil pump, timing chain and gears, water pump, Tstat, all rubber hoses, plugs, wires and 5 new Toyo Open Country AT2s. Big job but very worthwhile. Running hot now, 212* moving 222* stopped. I have ordered a 180* stat to see if that works better.

May have air in the system, these things can be a bugger sometimes to bleed out.

The Deputy, thanks for the reply and help. Are you having any issues with the SAE delete you did? The SAE delete is very tempting. I switched back to the old thermostat while I wait for the 180* T-stat ordered from Lucky 8.

It's running about 202* moving, and 212* at idle or stopped, better? So the new/old T-stat helped or the second cold bleed I did after the swap seemed to help lower my temps.
