Just a little clarification here:
Although "Land Rover" was founded in 1978, the first models drove off the production line in 30 April 1948, at the Amsterdam Motor Show. Back then the early Series models were one of the lines owned by the "Rover Company" which at the time specialized in mostly 2 wheel drive cars (i believe).

But otherwise i stand behind your input here. We already know the bugs our Rovers have, and we have learned to love them anyways.... we do not need negativity - we get enough of that in Washington and in the Middle East as it is...

Actually I was driving airportables and 109's from 1970 - military land rovers, heavy duty chassis - way stronger than civilian versions. The air portables had to survive a certain drop height as they were transported by helicopters mainly.

I was driving landrovers since 1970 - military spec.

Default A proper land rover

A Pink Panther without all the kit fitted. There was a later 110 version which has occasionally been spotted in BBC news items on Afghanistan.
