Round 2 at the fishery - See you guys
I have my stuff all packed and everything taken care of here at home so come Wednesday April 15th Im returning to Seward Alaska for my second salmon season. Looks like an early start this year. Less than 3 weeks ago I received an email from the HR department at the fishery, asking if I could be up there in 2 weeks or less because its already busy and they need my help. A shame I did not meet my April budget because I was really looking forward to driving up there in my Disco. Alas **** happens for a reason. I have not given up on the trip and if this season ends very well than I will try again sometime later this year. Maybe in mid October or November. I made $10k last time I went up there and that was before AK raised the wages so who knows, maybe Ill be lucky this year. In the mean time my Disco will stay in the hands of a trusted mechanic and Im going to have him go through the entire truck and get her up to spec for the long haul. Finally going to get that engine ticking diagnosed as well so maybe Ill get the engine rebuilt or if the liners are bad than I may be looking at a replacement P38 4.6 engine or a rebuilt 4.6 D2 engine. So please keep your eyes and ears open for me.
Also a friend told me I should attend the Vermont Overland Rally in October. I told him I was looking for training on offroading skills, training on recoveries and hands on lessons for how to use my hi-lift jack. If anybody on the forum is planning on attending let me know, maybe we can meet up. Im a complete rookie and I dont have swampers, winch or a 5" lift kit. Just a moderately modified truck.
Keep it real guys and thanks again for all your help and support.
