Remove fuel rails on a 5.0?
I'm slowly disassembling my 2011 5.0, and moving slowly as I've never worked on this vintage Jag engine before. I'm trying to pull the fuel rail on the right side so I can remove the valve cover. I've disconnected all the fuel lines, including the high pressure lines, as well as the electrical harness. I've removed the four bolts, but the fuel rail won't budge. Is there anything else that would be holding the fuel rail in place?

I thought I'd better finish this story. I got the fuel rail removed with lots of penetrating oil and using a "flat bar" wrapped in a shop towel as a lever between the fuel rail and the valve cover. Before I started prying, I installed the fuel rail installation guide pins that are part of the special tool kit for this engine, so I wouldn't damage the injectors when pulling on the fuel rail. After the fuel rail was removed, the injectors came out without too much trouble using the slide hammer designed for this purpose. It took me a bit to figure out that the removable clips that locate the injectors on the fuel rail had to be pulled off before the collet of the slide hammer would fit on to the injectors properly.

So I was able to get mine off with the help of a little PV blaster. The fuel rail—after you remove the four bolts— is just hold held on by the seals on top of the fuel injectors. Putting pressure on the rail with a pry bar and wiggling it was enough to loosen them off of the seals, than the fuel rail came right off. I did what you recommended using a rock shop towel on top of the valve covers and putting a little pressure on with a pry bar. Worked great.
