First - apologies for tossing up such a simple question. We recently purchased a 2020 Velar R dynamic S (P250). I decided to do this oil change instead of dragging it to the mechanic. According to the owner's manual, with changing the oil filter as well, I should expect to refill the engine with 7.4 quarts of 0W-20. Yet, after changing the oil and filter and only adding 7.0 quarts, if I'm reading the dipstick correctly, it's at the top of the range. Instead of having a low/high mark on the dip stick as the manual notes (a lower hole and an upper hole in the dipstick) this one has a simple line near the tip of the dipstick and then, approximately an inch higher, has what looks like 2 x's side by side, with a lime on either side. After adding only the 7.0 quarts and running the engine for a couple of minutes and letting it set for 5 more, the oil level is just a touch past those 2 X's. I'm just worried about overfilling - even though I added 0.4 quarts less than I'm supposed to have.
Any thoughts or suggestions? I'm just not sure how sensitive this engine is to slight over filling (if that's what those 2 X's seem to indicate. Dipstick
