03 disco 2 for sale, rebuilt engine!!!!
Greensboro, north carolina
So I made a mistake of thinking I could buy a flood damaged disco 2 from a salvage yard and resurrect it.
I spent 6 months completely rebuilding the engine with all atlantic british parts:
-full head gasket kit-including new gaskets for EVERYTHING
-heads serviced-not resurfaced (didn't need it)
-New oil pump gears
-new timing chain
-full fuel injector rebuild kit performed
-new plugs and wires
-all bolts and necessary positioning accounted for
-everything torqued to spec with $600 snap-on torque wrench
-new Crank position sensor
-starter disassembled, cleaned,tested, installed
-new oil pan gasket
-Entire engine is assembled, plumbed, and ready for running
-new battery
-also installed new/ used (oem) :
ignition
Both fuse boxes
Body control module
Ecu
I spent an extreme amount of time cleaning, degreasing, and detailing this engine, engine bay, and interior with the intent to bring it back to life.
Thinking I was ready for coding or programing to finish the job....I towed it to a land rover mechanic...
This guy totaled copped out of the opportunity to make a fortune off me and just told me it was a lost cause bc of the flood damage to the wiring harness...this I can not clarify or deny. But nevertheless I am pissed that I did all this work for nothing.
I'm ready to move on to a different project, it may be possible for someone to finish this but it's not going to be me.
$3,000 as is for everything together
$1,000 for rebuilt engine by itself (u must pay to remove engine)
If engine is bought I will sell other parts individually
Pictures below were merely in the process (before new timing chain and front engine was assembled, again, it is fully plumbed and ready to fire now)
During rebuild prior to timing chain and front assembly

Did you do new bearings, cam rods and mains? Did the crank need ground or just a polish? Also new rings as well?
Also please post a general location in keeping with the forum rules, sorry if I missed it in the reading

Don't give up yet.
If you have the engine, ECU and BCU done you are just about set
A new engine wiring harness can be purchased for $100.
I also purchased a flood D2. I replaced the engine wiring harness due to the wires broke going to the front left O2 sensor.
Just pull the upper intake manifold off, remove the center console and the rivots for the gear shift assembly to get access to the wiring that goes to the O2 sensors and you got it.
Everything is plug and play, just unplug the old wiring and plug in the new wiring.
PM me if you have any questions.
Seriously, you are like 95% there. No need to take it to a Land Rover mechanic
