I accept: Jalopnik has posted on their site a list of EVERY CAR that was traded in under the Cash For Clunkers program.
Two of the 500 1993 Defender 110s were turned in. Seriously? people traded 35,000$ vehicles for a 4500$ cash rebate.

DITTO !! To all above
lets remember......the dealers are getting a "voucher" from the govt, and then as you know, they are supposed to crush the vehicle..........but ya gotta know that some of these unscrupulous dealers are "forgetting" to cash in the voucher and electing to resell the vehicles thus ripping off the public and using the govt to do it !!
I highly doubt that our prize winning messiah of a president will take time out of his globe trotting schedule to verify each voucher and each vehicle and assure the taxpayers that this program was actually worthy. Apparrently,, to hell with all of us who could'nt afford car payments anyway, and then they want to crush our supply of potential spare parts for those of us who would buy a used part to keep what we have running !!!!!...............and finally.........
go and price out a "battery pack" for any of these hybrids on the market now.......(those that are in the know say they'll only last 75,000 mi )and try to convince me that the price of it , and the environmental impact of building it, plus the cost of the vehicle in the first place make any of us better off than driving what we already have !
Thanks for gettin' me fired up....I feel much better now.!!!

Here's what capitalism says about 'cash for clunkers':

People will STOP driving "gas guzzlers" when they can no longer afford it. Until then, the price of gas, and the fuel economy of trucks and SUVs really aren't a problem.

When you throw some subsidized trade-in offer into the equation, capitalism is no longer the rule.

I'm trying to think of something good to write on my window again... Something stating how proud I am to get 14mpg.
How about: "Doing my part to save the environment 14mpg at a time" or, you could not be quite so satirical and change environment to economy, because in that instance, driving a 14mpg vehicle really is circulating money--a lot of it! Of course, there's always global warming. "Reduce your carbon footprint, drive a Rover--14MPG!" Better yet, the all inclusive approach (including gas and repairs) "Save the economy, drive a land rover."

I am totally happy paying what we pay for gas. I just filled up my RR and it cost me $54.00. I just talked to a friend of mine who's in England and just filled up a 15 gallon tank of gas for his Porsche, 123.57 pounds. Now convert that to dollars, and "OUCH"!! Good thing Englands not that big.

"Socialism SUCKS"!!!!

If Obama has Czar's, Let me be the Rover Czar. I'll bring over all the good Rovers from England those Fairies in California keep banning!
