Default Stuck in the Snow

I was out trying my new helmet cam, and decided to take the Disco off road a little bit:

Pardon my language...

Nice!

What ended up getting you stuck?

Thumbs up

Looks like fun, until the stuck part

You had the CDL engaged right? How'd you get out?

Looks fun.

I bet you get all kinds of weird looks wearing a helmet while driving.

The CDL was engaged, and I was in low. I got the frame hung up in some really deep snow, and didn't have the momentum I needed to push through it. I tried digging it out, but ended up calling my buddy with a super duty to come pull me out.

I drove around town with the helmet cam on the other day, and got plenty of WTF looks.

Check out my Youtube page and you can watch the videos I made earlier that day while I was shooting.

I was under the impression that you wanted to use high gear in snow to reduce your chance of spinning out. And airing down the tires helps.

I never play in the snow without a snow shovel, a come along, multiple tow ropes, hatchet, axe, chainsaw, and some wrenches. I learned that after I hit a 4ft snow drift last year. Oh, and chains. If it weren't for those chains...

I got the frame lifted up too, I had snow packed above the oil filter. Took me a while to dig out, but I got it. Chains and the snow shovel were key. This year, even my mudders got stuck without chains.

A cell phone, and buddy with a Super Duty is sooo much easier though...

JK

I do need to stock up on recovery equipment, and figure out a place to mount my Hi-Lift.
