I wasn't able to pick up my defender for over a week due to my personal schedule and there was not a hint of an issue what so ever...We just scheduled a time that worked for both my sales guide and myself.

Same here picked up 11 days after it was ready, though I did finalize all paperwork via email/mail a couple days before I actually picked it up.

Anyone else have a vehicle going to port heuneme in December? Efear? I am waiting to hear from the dealer as to which boat it has been assigned. Just seeing if there is inky like a particular vessel they usually go on. I don't think port heuneme is backed up much because the vessel size that go there have to be smaller than the long Beach port vessels so hopefully no delays.

Port Hueneme is less crowded as mostly used by auto transport as well as produce ships from South America who do not use containers. The huge backup is container ships, meaning consumer goods and also parts for vehicles, along with a massive backup of empty containers in the port that don't have room for more containers until some are removed by outbound ships. It's a quagmire but vehicles seem to be making it in pretty well. As for parts, that's another story.

That is what I was hoping. Dealer says it is supposed to be on a ship soon but then delivery also says 12/31. I hope it is not on a ship for 2 months.lol

Anybody know what changes you can make to a build after it's accepted and before it's finalized? Also, what timeline is typical...few weeks to make necessary adjustments? I'm assuming the trim level is not something you can change once you have a build date, but color, wheels, interior options, etc?

Cant change trim is correct. My sales guide was not aware of this. I had two orders. Both had about two months before things were locked...but beware the schedule changes. So try and get in whatever you need asap and be committed with what you want.

Right now, if the dealer changes any options it could possibly delay the build or remove it all together. Before, yes you could make adjustments to options before "Last Amendment Possible" date. These are crazy times though.

Supply chain issues are for real.

Yes they are. And, they are gonna get much worse if the magnesium shortage holds up. My contact said pretty much the same… that any changes whatsoever will put the order at severe risk of being re-slotted or, worse, being completely eliminated due to the strains on JLR’s current processes for updating orders. Even the slightest delay at this point could mean no Defender for the foreseeable future. I’m in the “let it ride as is camp”.
