I checked with my salesperson this week. My build was 10/15, got confirmation a few days later. As of Nov 3rd it had not shipped yet. However, she did provide me with my VIN, which was encouraging. My build sheet said hand-off would be 12/3. I think it'll end up being here right before Xmas (my money is on the 21st).

*Dealer location is Va.

Those times line up.

Mine was built Oct 6. I think it's on the Tijuca that left on the 29th, is due in Savannah in 2 days, then due to my Florida dealer on Nov 19.

I have an interesting issue that I will have to figure out tomorrow.

Short version is I am picking up my 2022 X-Dynamic SE in Tasman Blue tomorrow. Worked with the dealership to modify a stock order and have been waiting about 2 and a half months for it. On the modified stock order I asked him to remove the Roof Rack and the Ladder.. no problem. He sent me a new build sheet showing them removed.

So they called today and told me that it's in and I can pick it up tomorrow.. being very excited I drove past the dealership and indeed saw it there.. looks amazing.. but has the Roof Rack and Ladder on it.. bringing the cost of it up by about $3k. I haven't said anything because I suppose they could have ordered them with it just to have for another Defender and during prep remove them and replacing the trim piece that gets modified with a couple of holes for the ladder. Or they could say they made a mistake and they came with it and the Defender is now $3k more. This is a big possibility as they know it will sell in a matter of a week or so if I don't want it.

Either way it will get figured out tomorrow when I go to pick up at 2:30. We just didn't want the rack or ladder as we won't ever use them.. but they do look pretty great on there. I've just read about a lot of wind noise from the rack and I read the ladder obstructs the view a bit in the mirror.. plus my wife didn't like the view from the sunroof with the rack there. So we'll see how it goes!

Well?? Curious what they did - how much did they charge for installation of the 2 items? My understanding is when you order accessories like those, they come in separately and the dealer installs them? I purposely didn't order them to keep the price down, then would add them later - but now I like the after market versions better, especially the ladder which mounts in the rear like my NAS's.

Sooo.. funny story. Or not.. more like lame story.. but apparently somebody ordered a Tasman Blue 110 X-Dynamic with the same rims and offroad package but with a rack and ladder (and 7 seater) at the same time as mine and came in on the exact same day.

Lol.

Crisis averted!

Good story and ending but what a stressful day or so.

If I had the opportunity to have a "Do Over", I would NOT order any "Dealer Installed" options. I would either do them myself or have a 3rd party do it. They add crazy mark up that they rarely quote until the vehicle comes in. Also, the aftermarket options have gotten sufficiently large that many of the accessories can even be competitively bid thru aftermarket or various on-line dealers.

If you want convenience: go for it. If you want to put the money in your pocket, deal with the PITA of coordinating yourself.

I am still waiting to see if my build on Oct 21 is on a ship. One ship left yesterday but not if it is on that. Dealer days nothing yet for ship status.

Got word the new Defender is at the dealer ready for pickup - naturally, paid for it and filled out all the paperwork necessary, but the dealer "forgot" about a certificate of origin needed to register the car, so turns out I can't pick up the car (yet). Aside from the fact that its mind blowing that a JLR dealership regularly selling foreign imported cars somehow FORGOT about a form required for registration, any idea how long it takes to get one of these? Presumably this is coming from the UK.
