Defender Windshield
Ah interesting. Seems like a nice feature though.
Living in Florida, I take all the help I can get when it comes to keeping a car cool.
But we also drive a RRC with zero tint on original windows and an AC that hardly works.
So if this new glass does in fact not have that feature, I'll survive!

. Learned something new in looking up the symbols - our glass was made around the same time as the "25" near the bottom is the year made and the dots before and after represent Month/DayLast edited by Ford; Apr 22, 2026 at 03:08 PM.
Adding a data point here. After 10 months with no windshield problems on my now totaled 2025 P400, I got a stone chip on the replacement 2025 V8 on day 4 of ownership. The chip immediately turned into a 2’ long crack when Safelite started the chip repair.
So I put in a claim for replacement, and my insurance only authorized aftermarket glass. Man, is that windshield a piece of crap. HUD is blurry and distorted, the heating elements cause headlight diffraction, and there’s a lot of wind noise.
I complained loudly to USAA/Safelite, and after the manager took a picture of the HUD, they’ve now authorized OEM replacement. So by the time I’ve owned the car for 4 week,s it will have had 2 windshield replacements.
