This is annoying. The g3 was advertised as compatible for the l663

The G3 is compatible with the L663. I've tweaked mine in many excellent ways with it. When I bought mine, it didn't work at all with my L663, but within a couple weeks, Patrick had a fix and it is working perfectly I was not the least bit annoyed by that.
I've set my defender to remember stop/start, disabled belt minders, enabled Dynamic and the trailer tow assist, approach unlock and walk-away lock, changed the DRL behavior to suit myself, enabled the wifi hotspot, and a more recent change disabled brake hold. (The automatic brake hold you get when brake hold is switched off is beyond annoying).

Now GAP is adding a new hardware feature to talk DoIP and with it the ability to reset DADC, I am not annoyed, I am thrilled!

What changes did you make to disable the brake hold. I agree that it is annoying.

You're dead right of course. I should feel the same but my inner curmudgeon needs air-time from time to time.

I've unlocked loads of great useful stuff on my Defender with GAP and continue to get good use from it. Support has been excellent and constant product development and improvement is to be applauded. G3 was money well spent. ACC is the only hold out really and that's a $100 with the JetPro and amazon cable doo-hickey in the ACC thread.

I suppose it's just a case of the Pangea green-eyed monster. Better being the enemy of good.

Here is the full announcement. We aren't really happy we had to go this route either - and we won't be earning any money on upgraders from the G3. The G4 will be marginally more expensive than the G3 but we've not fixed pricing yet so you'll have to wait...
We managed to do a LOT with the present interface and work-arounds to avoid changing the hardware but unfortunately we hit some barriers that did not leave another route open. We are doing are best to make sure nobody is left behind or unhappy.

Hi Everyone,

While the IIDTool has proven itself very reliable and adept at performing all types of functions on newer Land Rover vehicles including the L663 Defender, many of you will have noticed that a few functions including CCF/retrofits have not functioned properly. This is due to the IIDTools G3s interface which does not include the newer DoIP (diagnostics over IP) standard which leaves us with no choice but to update the hardware and introduce an IIDTool G4.

The G4 will enter into production in the coming weeks and we will be looking for beta users shortly. The IIDTool G4 will be marginally more expensive than the G3.

In order to ensure that nobody is shortchanged - especially those who have only recently purchased an IIDTool for their newer Land Rover - all IIDTool G3 users will be offered an advantageous exchange program. G3 owners who have activated their IIDTool after the 1st of October 2022 on a 2017+ car will get a special price. Others will also have an upgrade path similar to what we have done previously for G1 and G2 owners.

Please be aware, with this change to a G4 you will no longer have functionality on the 2002 to 2009 Range Rover L322. The IIDTool G3 will continue to be offered for these vehicles as well as those currently covered by this hardware. Customers will be able to choose between a G3 and G4 depending on budget and vehicle coverage requirements.

We will provide more details after the holiday break.

Other companies (possibly all others excepting OEM) advertise compatibility with the L663 and offer 1/10th the functionality...
