can you program a HUD to show you when a biker (ebiker) is approaching on the right? If you are turning right, you may be doing so from the only vehicle lane; cars are not your issue. e-bikes can go between you and the curb - has JLR figured out how to use the camera on the roof (visible in the rear view mirror) - to integrate to the HUD so if you put your right blinker on when there's a bike approaching, somehow there's a signal? they do this already with a signal in your passenger mirror, so maybe that warning on the mirror is matched in the HUD? Or maybe it's one of those OTA updates that are possible?

I can't think of any cons, except perhaps cost. You can adjust the brightness and then save the setting using the seat memory function. It does not automatically dim from that setting at night. It should!

Do you need it? Absolutely not. However once you're used to it you can't go back. In all of my cars, the HUD is more difficult to see if wearing polarized sunglasses.I think it should display the words on the audio playing to help we sing along when I'm driving particularly in off road modes. (Everybody else seems to have a wish list!)

Polarized sunglasses are designed to obstruct reflections. A HUD operates by having a transparent phosphor coating the windshield, and when a laser shines on it, it reflects images onto the windshield. Since it is a series of reflections, by design a HUD will never work with polarized sunglasses. In some cases (like my Audi and JLR products) the HUD is visible, but barely. I rented an E-Class Cabrio with a HUD when I was in Miami earlier this year and it was completely invisible with polarized sunglasses. It is best to keep a pair of normal sunglasses in the car for this reason.

Get it. I had HUD in both my previous cars, and I recommend it because it puts that info right in front of your eyes; no more having to look down or across to see speed and map info etc.
And I wear spectacles and the HUD works a treat (that can't be said of the insight rear view mirror which takes me too long to re-focus on its digital display, so a total waste of money).

I don't see the background at night on mine.
@Denver Are you aware of this feature?

'Do you need it? Absolutely not. However once you're used to it you can't go back.' - That's true!
