I am dealing with the same issue right now. I have a 2021 Defender 110. The right halo went out at 30,000 miles and was replaced under warranty. The left is now out (60,000 miles and out of warranty). They have quoted me over $5,000 to fix it. This so outrageous, despite loving the car, I am now going to sell it and go with another brand. I can't imagine charging that much for a headlight.
Get a quote from an independent shop. You could try a used one (about $150-300). It will need to be coded to the car though after install.
Just had my second one (cheap Chinese chip replacement from Ant parts) go out. The first one lasted 3 months, second one lasted about 5 months. Definitely stay away from those chips, they are trash.
Dealers are insane to charge so much for these headlights. I have bought two now from eBay for $500 each. I changed them out myself, which is easy (20mins job). I now have two spare ones which I will send off for chip replacement (powerfulUK chip) should it happen again. I’ve been quoted $250 to replace a chip if I supply the chip and headlight.
$10k to replace 2 headlights (which never should have burned out in the first place) is highway robbery.
My mother's Hyundai Palisades replacement headlight was like $2k just one light, and that was the lower level type headlight assembly.
Yes LR's headlights are super expensive to replace, but so are BMW, Audi, etc.
There are cheaper repair solutions for them than buying a whole new assembly from LR. Yes it takes a little effort and hassle but it's worth it in my opinion now that there are legit fixes available.
Well, this just happened to mine; 2022 X-Dynamic HSE; Driver's side DRL noticed out this morning which is super odd timing with the Pivi updated that I just installed last night. Anyone have any connections with this? The Def. is already at the dealership; I dropped it off this morning for a new sunroof that IS covered under warranty from a few months back, just good timing. But I'm now 7K OUT of warranty (57K miles) so they are "getting me a quote" and my rep is saying it wont be covered from warranty. Fairly frustrating with the timing of everything especially since I was IN warranty just 3 months ago (put on a lot of miles with our summer trip).
Anyone have luck getting this light covered even while not under warranty? It's DEFINITELY a known thing considering Land Rover issued a Special Service Announcement in '21: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...99802-0001.pdf
@sayvillerx Mine just went out and am at 57K miles so just out of warranty. How did you manage to get it covered?? I'm waiting for an estimate right now. Thanks!
Driver headlight ring failed and replaced when car was 6 months old. Passenger headlight ring failed and replaced after 24 months. The driver headlight ring has just failed at month 37. I was told warranty expired and I would need to pay $4,500 cdn as replacement parts do not get a new separate warranty period from the car. I complained about the previous headlamps needing replacement and made it clear that there is obviously a design flaw.
Just recieved notice that the dealership/manufacturer will be replacing said headlamp at no cost.
I am pretty sure this is a known problem at JLR. Be persistent with them but always act reasonably, I really think the dealer can help get what you need

3rd headlamp now replaced and was told by dealer that there will not be anymore free replacements moving forward. I guess i should disable the DLR to save the halos LOL
