Headlight failure (led ring/DRL)
My passenger side halo has been out since November and still waiting for replacement. I noticed yesterday that the driver side has now failed. My mileage is 47,700 so I really lucked out as both will be replaced under warranty!
I will say this if you are waiting for a new headlight (or other hard-to-get parts). Make as much noise as possible. I buzzed the crap out on my service advisor's ears, called JLR customer service - opened a case and wrote to the GM of my dealership. All complaining about timing AND pointing to the fact that I could easily buy a new headlight from at least 4 other dealers across the US and have it shipped to me in 3 bus days, but the parts dept of my dealership was unable to obtain one under warranty. I kept asking how come I can buy one on 3 days and your parts dept can't get one to replace mine under warranty. The only one that answered my questions was the GM of my dealership. He basically acknowledged that the other dealers would simply refuse to send the headlights to his parts dept, because they would rather sell it to a customer and make their profit. There was nothing JLR could do about it, since they are independent dealers (don't get me started on the whole factory-dealer-customer vs. factory-customer business models). He apologized and said he would try his best to get the headlight sooner than what was promised to me by JLR customer service (sometime after July). Couple days later, lo and behold, my service advisor calls with great news. The headlight had finally arrived. I do not know if it was the GM or the JLR case, but I am convinced there is no way I would have got that call if I had not annoyingly complained to everybody I could. Scheduled to replace it tomorrow.
i've had the same failure on the left led ring but the headlight is working. I have called several times to the dealership to set up to get a replacement. I have not been able to talk to the dealership and am being told that they are short handed and they are not setting up any appointments at this time. this is my first land rover and has been a very frustrating experience. You buy a $80k vehicle and expect better service when there is a problem. I've been told 3 times that I would receive a call back from some at land rover but I haven't received a call. It is highly unlikely that the led's have failed. It must be an electronic board that is failing. I'm not sure what the warranty period is but I saw that the OEM version of the headlight is over $500. i'm driving to the dealership this weekend to see if they can help.

As cars run out of factory warranty and owners are presented with a $3000 to $5000 invoice to really just fix a cosmetic issue, I reckon this will become a headache for Land Rover. I have had 3 failures so far (only the first one replaced under warranty, two failures on driver and one on passenger side from premium headlights built over a year apart, so it's definitely not just a small batch of them with the issue) and I have gotten away with it relatively cheap by buying used compatible clusters on eBay and installing them myself which is quite easy, still $800 to $1000 each, and often you get untested headlights on eBay with, guess what, a non-working halo when you plug them in...

That's poor service from your dealer. My guess is they are inundated with work, but it's no excuse.
Have you tried a different dealer? l
am sure they are well aware of the failure of these headlights and will be able to order the part without seeing the vehicle.
Then you may be able to drive to the dealer and wait while they replace it.
Wishful thinking l know, but it's worth a try!

Anyone have any links to breakers or parting or used sellers outside of ebay? Thanks.
I can do the random Google / Bing / etc search, but yearning for someone's feedback who has actually used the sites.
