Jerkiness when coming to a stop, steering pulling? (2023 V8 CE)
I've been experiencing a couple issues with my CE since I picked it up last fall. When coming to a slow stop (ie stop light ahead), the car seems like it jerks as it shifts down automatically, most noticeable from the 15 to 0 mph range. I see the RPMs spike as it shifts down... and it's just not smooth.
Also when driving, the steering sometimes feels like it has a mind of it's own and wants to pull one way or the other... it doesn't feel like stuck calipers, feels more like the electronic power steering. Like if I want to slowly turn around a bend, I have to fight the wheel a little to convince it to go and if I jerk the wheel briefly the other direction and then continue the bend, it improves. I have LKA disabled.
Jeff, sorry you are having those issues. Unfortunately, you need to take it in to get looked at, not normal at all. Hopefully your service experience is positive.
My 22 P400 sort of does the same jerky thing, but came along with a pop/clunk sound. It's been at the dealer for two weeks for this now. They're apparently working with JLR tech support on it. The jerkiness wasn't too bad most of the time, barely noticeable, but the noise would happen almost all the time when slowing, especially if just coasting without brakes.
The steering thing is probably your lane keeping steering assist function. Turn it off with the button on your steering wheel and then see if it keeps doing that. I don't think there's actually technically a problem there, it's just not a good system.
Downshifting jerkiness probably normal. You can try a few things. 1. Reset transmission values. Explanation: after some wear resetting this will prompt the tranny to relearn clutch engagements. I recently did mine and found the trans shifing better.
2. check fluid level. Explanation: there were a few reports of trucks being delivered with less atf fluid than they should have been filled with.
3. I wouldn't fret tho, as much as it bothers you, jlr engineers probably left it there to retain a truck like active driving experience. Our trucks share air suspension components and design with range rovers. Do they drive like range rovers??? Mine doesnt and whilst its not uncomfortable, it irks me from time to time that theres no user configurable setting for the magneride. I paid 70k for this truck and if i want a boaty floaty ride, i should have access to those settings. Same for all of the components.... it would have been so damn easy for them to install a menu screen for this.

can you elaborate on how to do a transmission reset? I am having this issue and would like to try this
