Distance doesn't matter to me, a road trip after pick-up would be really fun. Feel free to DM or reply with suggestions to help out.
I had no luck with the dealership in Frisco or FW. I’m still sitting on their waiting lists since January. I kept following up with the Dallas dealership as it’s high volume and “Tommy” was able to pull a miracle and get mine ordered. I highly recommend as the other dealerships were extremely unhelpful in the metroplex!

I wouldn't paint JLR with a broad brush because of a crappy dealer. There's a reason why Tesla doesn't have them and Ford may be at least motioning towards a dealerless future. Dealerships only survive because of archaic state laws, they serve no purpose otherwise. They could have told your friend that because they planned to tell him "O, it just sold" when he showed up "but we got this other defender for only $15k above MSRP" or something like that. Have your friend ask when they expect to get it.

I may have been a bit premature. Now I am being told there is an "update" that has to be done to my app before it can be sold. Should only be a 1 day delay.

I used Dallas, I was in and out in less than 30 minutes with my order in May. Got an allocation the following month. Picking up tomorrow now.

they said it was in Georgia/unloading they hadn't gotten it through customs yet. once its through customs should come up pretty quick, but the customs is the hand wavey time. but right now, oct 7th looks good.
