I'm also on 22s and looking at the same 285/45 size option - is it safe to assume you have no rubbing at any height over bumps/dips or even when turning full lock?
As long as a tire fits it should be fine. We have seen up to 305 width used at least supposedly without rubbing.
For this who haven'tthought about it, "aspect" is width. 255 tires are nearly exactly 10" wide. 305mm is right at 12". That adds one inch on both sides, and as long as height works it should.
Offroad tires are simple, the last number plus double the sidewall in inches. 255/65 19 is 32" tire - 19 + 6.5 + 6.5
32.75" seems to be the limit and many 33" tires fit with a little elbow grease or Dremel.
Took the advice of @Ronin Defender and went with 305/50/20 BFG KO3s - purely for vanity - I love the look of a meaty tire on these trucks + I had to differentiate from all the Moms in my town who drive them.
I know you've mentioned no mods for these 305 tires but my question is do you get outer rubbing on the plastic wheel liner vents and the front mudflaps when the steering wheel is at full lock in access Height or when reversing while turning?
