Default ‘02 D2 Westminster

After a couple months of searching in Southern California, I finally found my 2002 D2 Westminster. I’m intending to use it as my daily driver and occasionally on some trails.

Owner 1: 2002-2018 -108k miles
Owner 2: 2018-2020 - 10k miles

Every fluid and almost every gasket was just changed by West Coast Rovers. Greasable front drive shaft/new camshaft/02 sensors/csps/water pump...they really did the works on this truck.

Will post some pictures of the interior once it’s cleaned up. Finding a d2 around la was a nightmare, but I think I finally found the right balance of miles/owners/price.

On my todo list:
1. Missing front drivers side fender flare
2. headliner
3. paint + some badge & lettering tlc
4. Set of K02s
5. Locking transfer case

Will a 265/70/16 fit well rn, or will it depend on how much my shocks have dropped over time? I’d like to buy tires first but I’m not sure how these would fit with a 2” lift. I’d like to upgrade tires, then case then lift.

My plan for the cdl is swapping the front case from a d1. Will my tcase include all the internals or will I need to source and install the locking collar?

pull the other flares off!! you won't be disappointed. 3M makes a stripe off wheel that attaches to a drill that makes quick work of the residual adhesive. Worst case you don't like it and you can refinish the flares off the truck which is much easier to do and glue them back on. You can crawl under and feel on top of the T-case to see if you have a lockable one, that is an easy search here for exactly what you are looking for but you should be good.

Welcome and clean truck!

I was planning on rhino liner on the fenders but - maybe I’ll like them all off more. I’ll try it out.

My tcase doesn’t have that on top sadly.

Fixed my broken sport mode button today. It felt like it wasn’t clicking so I thought maybe something was misaligned. The button fell off at some point - glad it was still there. Some soldering & jb weld later, we have sport mode back. Doubt I’ll ever use this, but nice knowing it works.

Jb weld is great, but need to find some replacement center console parts. My button still doesn’t click great due to some plastic tabs.

You can usually find the shifter bezels online for a decent price off of Ebay. Paul Grant, and Will Tillery are also great sources for used parts.

Took a little joy ride and stepped out of the car to realize I’d left a trail of coolant...

was watching my UltraGauge so no harm done - it was a short drive.

I’m not sure if I overtightened the bleeder screw, if it was just old or both, but it looked like the spray was coming from there. I tried removing it and see this.

I thought this was the end, but thankfully these screws have a small channel that just about fits a small nail. I found a bmw part listed on the forum and autozone had their dorman version.

Anyone know if this is a bad idea? I swapped out the rubber oring for the original larger one. The only other difference is the length of the screw but hardly noticeable.

Now I just need to figure out what coolant was previously in here. I bought some peak pink, but don’t want to risk mixing something with dexcool.

Part: left bmw bleeder screw vs right lr broken screw.
