Emissions testing on everything post '68 here. Also in Md on the east coast where I'm from. They match VIN to car and test tail pipe (non OBD2 ) and do a visual for all emissions equipment regardless of tailpipe reading. For added fun it needs to be done every year here in Vegas.

regarding why pre '98. In WA I can change the title to a diesel and run it here without issues. If I ended up moving back to California, CA requires diesel inspection for model years 98 and above.

mordor, i'm nowhere near Dallas, but always up for a roadtrip. i'll im you.
