Almost Died....
Sorry to hear about your close encounter, but when you do something like that in an area where you have on-coming traffic and purposely hit a bad bump at that speed when you had a problem and do not know whether you fixed it or not, you brought that situation upon yourself and everyone else on the road, did you not?
Well I've had issues with the rover going over bumps and the steering wheel would wiggle. So I thought the steering damper was worn out.
I agree with the others that the steering damper was not the correct guess at what was wrong. Did you do any research or just jump to that conclusion?
How long have you had the vehicle?
Have you ever serviced the wheel bearings?
I could not control the vehicle and hit the brakes. Classic land rover response time the vehicle did not want to stop,
What condition is the braking system in? If the brakes are in proper working condition, the vehicle should have stopped in a normal fashion, since the brakes are completely independent from the steering system!!!!!
I do not understand the Classic Land Rover Response time statement.
If a caliper grabbed and the one or more others didn't, I would expect that to affect directional control and braking response.
I would suggest you do a more thorough analysis of the problem, as we do not know very much about the overall vehicle condition or what has or more importantly has not been done or more importantly not done to it.
Also, when doing a post-repair test drive, you should find an isolated area void of other traffic so you do not endanger the lives of others on the road. Just think what that truck driver must have felt with you veering out of control into his path!!!
I hope this has been a learning experience for you and some of the other members of this forum. If you are unsure of a fix, don't try a high speed manuever in traffic to see if a major system problem is resolved. You could have caused a major accident involving lots of others as well.
To kill yourself doing something like that would be unfortunate, to involve unsuspecting others in down right criminal, it is called vehicular homicide my friend.
If you get angered by my comments, just remember that I was not the idiot responsible for your near tragic ending, that was all you. Yes it may sound harsh, but what you did was not acceptable in my opinion. You are lucky it was not tragic. You could have killed an entire family that just happened along at the time you did this. That is almost as bad as leading the cops on a high speed chase in a crowded area.
Good luck in your continuing attempt at resolving the problem.
Service the wheel bearings and swivel pins as soon as possible or get someone that is qualified to do it for you.
Happy Trails to you.

Hi Danny Lee,
Thanks for being a royal a$$. Your comments are not only unhelpful, but overall just a weak attempt to jab at someones misfortune and to make yourself feel bigger.
Since the truck had never done anything this severe I had no way to predict the result. This was much worse than it had ever been, from an irritating minor wobble in the steering wheel, to a violent shake. Obviously you love your rover and want to stick up for it even though Tata motors does not give a flying crap about you.
I think that it is general knowledge that these heavy vehicles do not stop on a dime, or even a damn yard stick. And since you have absolutely no idea where I live, (which is off a highway you dingaling) I do not intend to plow through the woods to the nearest service road. Hitting the brakes hard would have caused me to flip the vehicle from the severity of the wobble. The horrible hole you think it was was a indented tar line in the road just so you know!
I am very much aware about vehicular manslaughter since this is how my brother died and I landed in the hospital pretty torn up myself.
I hope that this is a learning experience as well, that posting inconsiderate crap on a thread like your everyone's Daddy does not generate any positive responses or help anyone in their efforts to resolve a problem.
Accidents happen, I did not purposely leave my driveway with what I thought to be a dangerous vehicle. I have 2 children you know, and I know that in that other vehicle could have been a family. I take others lives seriously.
Your acting like I was on Saltsburg Rd!
That's a good idea though, when I fix it I just may run the bitch through the first crowd I see because I'm so stupid!
You may need to check your Drama dial, eat a snickers.
Happy trails to you too
