Default Central locking and unlocking

i am new to my Disco I, 98 LSE. When i purchased it , it came with a black key less opener. it is a genuine LR one, not an after market one. with two buttons with no markings left on it.
Problem is it doesn't work. i hoped changing the battery would do something but nothing happened. Alright so this is not the end of the world but with my little kids this is a luxury i would love to have.
Another note, the lock on the driver side is hard to lock and unlock (sticks) while the passenger side is easy and functions just right.
So my expert friends, where do i start and how do i get my disco to lock and unlock with a touch of a button.

Thanks

Curious, you only have one remote key?
My locks would stick at times also. I took the panels off and sprayed with lithium grease, also one of the I had to slightly bend the rod up to the pull latch, it was pressing agaist the hole it comes through. It work real good without the panel so I had to tinker with it.

From the RAVE:

HANDSET TRANSMITTER RESYNCHRONISATION
The Theft Alarm Unit (Z163) will remain
synchronised with the handset unless:

The handset’s batteries have been removed

The vehicle’s battery has been disconnected
NOTE: All handsets must be resynchronised when
the vehicle’s battery has been disconnected.
To resynchronise a handset the vehicle must be in
an unlocked and disarmed state. Resynchronisation
consists of 4 presses of either the lock or unlock
button.

Would be a great idea to resolve problem with driver door switch, this can lead to all sorts of issues like being immobilized, etc.

Yes i only have one remote key. i took the panel off today and tried the grease and the sticking issue is almost gone. i'm not the best with electrical issues, i might just take it to a shop. Would a regular alarm and stereo shop work? or are there any special issues with locks and alarms in disovery?

If taking to a shop take them a copy of the RAVE on a USB drive. Immobilization makes most people's day....

Default Remote lock

Did all Disco's come with a remote? I have a '98 D1 and only have a key.
