Disco 1 alarm trouble
Remove the alarm? Unless you intend to remove it and clean it, then reinstall it you likely won't be driving that truck again. The 10AS alarm system is integrated into the GEMS system, the ECU needs communication with the alarm unit to function..
Is this only happening at your house?
It is possible you are getting RFI (radio frequency interference)from somewhere in your neighborhood.
I have heard of cars with remote car starters being started by the neighbors garage door opener.

My '97 also has no light on the fob.
After doing a search for all his posts it appears he has a '95 300TDI, and resides in the UK. This being the case he has no worry about the 10AS or GEMS system.

Sorry for the delay peeps, bit of an emergency came up. Yeah `95 300TDI. Fob has an LED and new batteries but the LED on the dash no longer lights. It did when I locked the car witht the fob, but then gave up when the wife tried to use it half an hour later. Anyways, it seems that me disconnecting the battery for a few mins has disarmed the alarm / immobiliser so I reckon I`m gonna leave it like that. Tinkering further (although sometimes I cant resist) will only get me into trouble. The landy works......for now.
Not sure if yours will, but on my 97, if you lock door with the key and hold the key in the anti-clockwise position for about 5 seconds - it locks the truck, but does not turn on the alarm. Red light does not begin to flash. You can come back later and open rear hatch first with the key, etc. The UK "required" program could also be different.
LOL-this is a really simple alarm and does not have volumetric sensors.
First off, grab a cold chisel and beat the DFSS to bits. It's on top of the injection pump. Find the fuel stop solenoid power wire(it should be either white or white with black stripe) and run it directly to the fuel stop solenoid.
If you haven't already done it, bin the EGR and fit it with a block-off plate and remove the TPS.
As for the alarm, the circuit is in the ETM and you can bypass it easily enough, but be careful, you might lose the neutral safety function.
The problem is most likely rainwater intrusion into the alarm enclosure. Very common on pre-'96 Discos.
