yep! Red/orange. Who knew with all that gross grime.

Have been pushing and pulling on the fuel disconnects but they're just not budging. I think I need to order Dorman disconnects like the poster in the Big Ole Fuel Pump Fixin Thread, and cut the lines. Just. Won't Budge.

Based on your pic, I'm suprised those lines aren't coming free. No BS those are the best I've seen in about 15 years. What brand of penetrating oil are you using? And what type of wrenches are you using?

You probably know this but......those fittings aren't the push-to-connect type.
Have you been able to get the nuts to turn?

I am using a pair of 14 mm flare wrenches and penetrating oil (spray can). I can get the line on the left to move but not on the right, welded soooo tight by years of rust. Gonna cut the lines tomorrow and substitute quick release.

Now I want to cut out the fuel filter lines too and do something more quick release... someone posted a good filter for that but I have to go look more...

Been there many times...SUX! Before you go the "dorman" route try soaking the fittings with PB BLASTER and let it sit minimum overnight. Depending how bad the hex is on the hose side, you might have to use vise grips to keep the hose from twisting. Keep at it, you'll get this done.

You might have already seen this, but on a "good day" this is how the pump comes out.

yep, I watched that video over and over today. Too bad there's not a closer view. I am using the same spanners and just cannot get the nut to budge, not at all, not even an imaginary amount. The only thing I didn't try was any pressure venting or anything but I don't think that's what's making it not move, I think it's just 30 years of rust and heat and it's not moving.

Yeah, I didn't use a vise grip, I used two 14mm ratcheting flare wrenches but seriously, no go.

Have ripped the fitting (no biggie, since it's part of the filter) and the nuts simply will not even think about loosening. Soaked it all day yesterday in Liquid Wrench/penetrating oil, gave it more shots this morning, gave it more shots when I started, gave it more shots when I gave up the first time, the second time, the third time, the fourth time--- I can lean my entire body weight on the spanner and it's simply not budging. If I try anything I haven't already tried, I'm going to do real damage. They are just not moving, and as you can see that right one has some thermal stuff going on and is just really welded on.

Re the pump, I would suggest cleaning the space between the threads(hose end) and the nut on the pump with a BRASS wire wheel and/or a pick. Also clean the line on the pump behind the nut. You might get just enough rust off to get the penetrating oil in. RUST is BS, been dealing with it forever.

You get get a cheap-o brass wire wheel almost any place like Home Depot, HF, Napa. But use brass. And re the fuel hose, if you need extra remember to get hose designed for high pressure Fuel Injection. Napa has it in bulk.

If you slip a length of pipe over each wrench it will increase your leverage......

.....and the ring looks red but thanks for the nudge pidge wings.
