yes I know. But it's also one of those things that even knowing at this point doesn't make a lot of difference. I already know that the front cover and oil pump gears are toast. I also know that fixing that correctly is a 500 bill on an engine that's lived a good portion of it's life already.

Sure the PO put new head gaskets on, But you look close and you start seeing a lot wrong with it, like the missing vac advance on the distrib, The miss matched spark plug wires... point is, I could have a grand wrapped up in it very quickly to do things right.

Again, I think this is a great truck to use as my builder, and the perfect candidate for the Izuzu 2.8 Diesel swap. It's rust free, and of course has that sweet R380...

My patch job should keep it running until that happens. Only need 3500 bucks... any donors? I'm actually selling off my 89 F350 7.3 Diesel to help finance its build.





Going to close this tread and start a new one for the trucks rebuilt like I did with the others.

 

NGARover, I've got the exact same issue with my '97. what have you found was ultimately the issue?
